I sometimes wish I were a Vulcan

-- with ears to get the point of what you say without reflection on myself

-- without an ego to be hurt when I construe the things you do or say as critical of me or of my children

-- and with a mind that I could blend with yours
           to know you wholly
           and to prove to you
           for once and always
           that nothing you have ever done or thought
                                                               could matter to my love
