July 4th, 2006

Happy 4th of July to everyone! (And Happy 1st of July to the Canadians in the crowd!)

I apologize for there not being a mid-month letter, but we've been on the road since June 14th with only two 2-day stints at home, and will be traveling until July 30th.

So this will be a quick e-mail only newsletter, with no fancy elaboration on the web-site, and with no Tarot lessons - those will commence again next month.

As noted on our website, we're attending ConMisterio in Austin from the 14th to the 16th and the Romance Writers of America Convention in Atlanta from the 25th to the 30th. In the meantime we're doing 6 talks at Kiwanis groups in Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana, 3 book-signings and a TV appearance.

But this week we're taking to write - mostly. We are owners with Fairfield, a major timeshare company with resorts around the country, and we use that ownership to retreat and write, as well as to holiday. We were able to get a unit for 5 nights at the very last minute (ie, on Friday, for a Sunday check-in) in Branson, MO, which is en route for our road trip. We actually decided to come back here after spending a very pleasant 5 days here two weeks ago with two of Honora's grandchildren.

Now, going to the one of the most popular resort towns in the country for the 4th of July holiday to do a writing retreat may seem counter-productive, but we're in a nice quiet corner of the town, nestled in one of the many valleys, and have been creative demons! And since all work and no play makes Jill an exceedingly dull girl, and we don't want that showing up in our books, we've been to two shows, and plan to go to another tomorrow night.

We are doing a book-talk for the resort activities program this afternoon, and who knows, somebody may even show up to listen to us! In addition, one of our Kiwanis gigs is tomorrow, but we still intend to get 50 pages completed this week, and with 12 done so far, we're on the way!

And with that, I'll end this letter, and turn the computer back over to the typist in the duo (Honora can type 60 words a minute, I can type 15 if I'm lucky and my three little typing fingers don't get confused!)

Have a wonderful holiday, a wonderful month, and please, if you've read 'The Chef', let us know what you think!

Susan & Honora
